LAHAINA, MAUI — Down the Hatch Maui, one of Lahaina’s most iconic bars, has announced plans to reopen in 2027 following its loss in the devastating Lahaina fires on August 8, 2023.
The beloved establishment, often referred to as the “Best Bar on Maui,” was destroyed during the wildfire that forever changed Lahaina and impacted countless residents and businesses. Since then, the Down the Hatch team has been working steadily behind the scenes toward rebuilding and returning to service.
The new Down the Hatch Maui will be located on the West Side of Maui in Kāʻanapali. While the reopening will not take place in the heart of Lahaina, ownership expressed gratitude for securing a location that allows the business to return and continue serving the Maui community. Permitting is currently underway, with renovations expected to follow.
“This next chapter is about resilience, gratitude, and honoring the spirit that made Down the Hatch such a special gathering place,” the team shared. “We’re thankful for the continued support and encouragement as we work toward reopening.”
